Job Summary

The Vascular Sonographer at Monument Health is responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations on patients, utilizing advanced technical skills and knowledge of vascular principles, ultrasound physics, and instrumentation.

Working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals, you will obtain diagnostic images, interpret findings, and provide essential information for patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform ultrasound examinations on patients, adhering to department protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
  • Examine requisitions for appropriate orders, exam dates, and indications for exams.
  • Acquire and document high-quality imaging suited to the examination indication.
  • Explain procedures to patients, positioning them correctly to obtain optimal images.
  • Document preliminary results for cardiologists to interpret in EPIC.
  • Demonstrate competency in imaging and transmitting vascular exams to the PACS system and reading physicians.
  • Meet quality requirements for the lab set by the medical imaging director.
  • Adhere to safety standards and infection control measures.
  • Stay current with advancements in vascular sonography through ongoing education and training.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Applied Science.
  • Certification: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 1+ years of Sonographer experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Ultrasound.
Physical Requirements

Heavy work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 100 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 100 pounds seldomly to move objects.

Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.

Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths, including 8 and 12 hours, which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
