Position Overview
The Clinical Curation Scientist plays a vital role in ensuring the quality of patient reports, specifically focusing on the interpretation of evidence-based oncology biomarkers for therapeutic choices. This position also engages in various related projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in the interpretation and analysis of identified variants from clinical samples.
  • Facilitate the integration of novel biomarkers into clinical practice by reviewing published literature and clinical trial data.
  • Stay updated on clinical guidelines regarding validated drug associations for personalized cancer treatment.
  • Assist in maintaining biomarker archives and specific evidence dossiers, while also updating the literature repository for ongoing biomarker management.
  • Contribute to projects supporting Exact Sciences' precision medicine initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with external agencies in a professional manner.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative team spirit.
  • Clarify complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work independently on various tasks while maintaining attention to detail in a team setting.
  • Show a comprehensive understanding of cancer genomics, signal transduction pathways, cancer cell biology, targeted therapies, and sequencing technologies.
  • Critically evaluate and interpret scientific literature.
  • Embody the company's mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Adhere to the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Foster an inclusive mindset and model these behaviors within the organization.
  • Utilize mobile devices, tablets, or computers for approximately 75% of the workday.
  • Simultaneously operate a computer and phone.
  • Use a headset for telephone communication.
  • Occasionally travel away from the primary work location, which may include overnight or weekend travel.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D., M.D., D.O., or Pharm.D. in Human Genetics, Molecular Genetics, Genomics, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in genomic medicine and translational cancer research.
  • Documented record of scientific contributions (e.g., presentations, publications in peer-reviewed journals).
  • Ability to fulfill the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience, including interpretation and approval of patient reports in a CLIA-certified laboratory.
  • Experience in clinical data interpretation.
  • Knowledge of somatic and/or germline variants.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $109,000 to $174,000 annually, based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible for bonuses and company stock options.
