Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the role of Division Chief, Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Department of Surgery at The University of North Carolina. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the division and promoting a strong culture of institutional stewardship throughout UNC Health Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Chairperson of Surgery to promote a collegial work environment that enhances clinical growth and academic development.
  • Develop and implement strategies to advance research activities consistent with the growth of clinical programs.
  • Lead the division in promoting a strong culture of institutional stewardship throughout UNC Health Systems.
Requirements
  • MD degree and completion of a cardiothoracic surgery residency and fellowship program.
  • Current ABTS certification in cardiothoracic surgery and a current North Carolina Medical License.
  • Experience with OPCAB/minimally invasive techniques, heart and lung transplantation, and ventricular assist devices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Primary focus in acquired heart disease, with special interest in myocardial revascularization and valve surgery.
