The Senior Technical Project Manager will concentrate on the planning and execution of tasks for embedded System Reliability Engineers (SREs) who possess extensive reliability and domain expertise as they integrate across the engineering portfolio.
Our Project Managers work closely with engineering leaders and play a vital role in structuring and executing significant cross-organizational initiatives. They are expected to have a strong technical background and a keen interest in expanding their knowledge, both within their team's product area and across the broader department. Ideal candidates should be highly proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of navigating uncertainties, identifying successful pathways to ensure project delivery, while managing multiple critical assignments across the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clearly define and articulate project objectives and plans; develop a fundamental technical understanding of project deliverables.
- Improve team efficiency by eliminating obstacles and leveraging organizational relationships while guiding teams towards their commitments.
- Monitor progress against deliverables and collaborate closely with the team to ensure timely completion.
- Provide concise and effective status updates across various reporting formats to keep stakeholders informed and proactively communicate risks, forecasts, and dependencies.
- Facilitate technical and stakeholder meetings; summarize discussions and capture outcomes effectively.
- Encourage cross-team collaboration and communication.
- Identify, maintain, and visualize metrics to steer the project lifecycle.
- Assist in estimating and planning team resources in conjunction with the engineering team manager.
- Manage competing and dynamic priorities, balancing various requests with agility.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in managing technical projects within a fast-paced and dynamic environment, including the development and execution of project plans and delivery commitments.
- A deep-rooted passion and a successful history of building motivated and collaborative teams.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills; capable of following technical discussions and comprehending technical documentation.
- A track record of establishing and nurturing trusting, long-lasting professional relationships with diverse stakeholders, enhancing current engagements, and advocating for future initiatives.
- Experience in leading teams through process improvements and re-engineering.
- Demonstrated resilience and comfort with ambiguity.
- Proficiency in tools such as Atlassian Suite, Google Suite, and Slack or similar platforms.
- Experience working with distributed teams and/or organizations.
- Basic understanding of cloud-based development with a desire to learn more.
- A degree in a STEM field and/or experience as a software engineer.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps and SRE practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and Availability.
