Position Overview: The City of San Angelo Texas is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Client Relations Specialist. This position is essential in managing a variety of customer service tasks, assisting utility customers both in person and over the phone, and addressing inquiries and service requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome visitors and provide exceptional customer service at the front desk and via phone.
- Handle incoming calls and respond to customer inquiries and service requests efficiently.
- Offer detailed information about utility services, departmental guidelines, and billing inquiries.
- Create and maintain customer accounts; ensure accuracy in account information.
- Prepare and manage work orders for service adjustments, including meter readings and service connections.
- Process after-hours service requests and document customer information for field personnel.
- Maintain organized records of service requests and work orders.
- Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments; facilitate payment arrangements and extensions as necessary.
- Engage in additional duties as assigned.
- Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Regular attendance is essential.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience in customer service or a related field.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of a valid Texas Driver License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Applicants with out-of-state licenses must provide a certified driving record.
- Completion of a typing test is required.
- Customer Service Certification or training is advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of utility billing operations, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with customer service standards and protocols.
- Knowledge of departmental records and documentation practices.
- Proficiency in records management principles.
- Competence in using general office equipment and standard software applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is conducted in a typical office setting.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods, as well as stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
