Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome visitors and provide exceptional customer service at the front desk and via phone.
  • Handle incoming calls and respond to customer inquiries and service requests efficiently.
  • Offer detailed information about utility services, departmental guidelines, and billing inquiries.
  • Create and maintain customer accounts; ensure accuracy in account information.
  • Prepare and manage work orders for service adjustments, including meter readings and service connections.
  • Process after-hours service requests and document customer information for field personnel.
  • Maintain organized records of service requests and work orders.
  • Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments; facilitate payment arrangements and extensions as necessary.
  • Engage in additional duties as assigned.
  • Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Regular attendance is essential.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in customer service or a related field.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid Texas Driver License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Applicants with out-of-state licenses must provide a certified driving record.
  • Completion of a typing test is required.
  • Customer Service Certification or training is advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of utility billing operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with customer service standards and protocols.
  • Knowledge of departmental records and documentation practices.
  • Proficiency in records management principles.
  • Competence in using general office equipment and standard software applications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is conducted in a typical office setting.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods, as well as stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
