Starting salary for certified Special Education Teachers is $71,000, which includes a $10,000 hiring incentive for Special Education roles.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties:

  • Collaborate with students, families, and educational staff to create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process.
  • Design and implement effective instructional strategies tailored to the unique learning styles and needs of each student.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Work alongside general education teachers to adapt and modify curriculum to support special education students in inclusive settings.
  • Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary.

Student Development:

  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of student performance through both formal and informal assessments.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, and colleagues to foster a collaborative educational environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay informed about best practices in special education.
  • Adhere to all relevant educational regulations and policies to ensure compliance and quality of education.

Supervisory Role:

  • Oversee the work of instructional aides and volunteers, ensuring effective support for student learning.

Physical and Mental Demands:

This position may require physical activities such as lifting and positioning students with disabilities, as well as maintaining emotional control in challenging situations.
