Job Summary

The City of Newport, OR is seeking a skilled Lifeguard I to ensure the safety of patrons and visitors to the City's Swimming Pool. This part-time position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and to perform water rescue as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee patrons in pool setting and perform water rescue as needed
  • Educate patrons on and model pool safety procedures
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary work environment
  • Provide high-quality customer service to all patrons, visitors, and guests
Requirements
  • Knowledge of basic water safety
  • Certifications in CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Lifeguard certification within 30 days of hire
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment, including computer, copier, fax, and phone
Working Conditions

Work location is primarily indoors, with considerable exposure to humidity, water, and an environment where chemicals may be present. Must wear uniform and proper footwear while on duty.
