Position Overview: As a pivotal figure within the Department of the Navy, you will tackle complex technical challenges, acting as the liaison with NAVSEA 05 ship design managers and technical warrant holders. Your role will involve interfacing with industry as the Program's technical lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve technical issues related to Life Cycle Support (LCS) and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Determine program priorities, manage funding, and oversee engineering efforts executed by Naval Surface Warfare Centers.
- Serve as the primary technical representative for the Program, engaging with Fleet entities.
- Encourage the development and exchange of innovative concepts, principles, and methodologies.
- Supervise technical and administrative staff, ensuring effective program management.
- Establish work priorities, prepare schedules, and guarantee timely completion of tasks.
- Provide expert technical guidance to senior personnel on critical engineering challenges.
- Lead evaluations and investigations into design and integration issues during construction phases.
- Recommend design corrections and coordinate technical interfaces to expedite progress.
- Maintain effective communication channels with both government and industry stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and suitable for federal employment. Participation in the direct deposit pay program is mandatory. New hires must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Experience: Candidates should possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03 (or GS-13) level, managing ship design projects to ensure adherence to technical requirements and standards.
Education: A professional engineering degree is required, with specific coursework in engineering sciences. Alternatively, current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is acceptable.
Additional Information: This position may require travel to various locations, including remote sites. Applicants must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
