Job Description

Position Overview:

Presbyterian Village North is seeking a skilled and compassionate Full-Time RN Charge Nurse to join our dynamic team. As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for the health care management of our campus, including independent and assisted living, health unit, and special care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Models a service-oriented attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems, and takes the initiative to make things better.
  • Responsible for health care management of the campus, including independent and assisted living, health unit, and special care.
  • Makes rounds in all buildings, ensures staffing is appropriate, and residents are taken care of.
  • Ensures resident/patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards.
  • Maintains good attendance record.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, coaches, and evaluates departmental staff.
  • Assesses high-risk residents for pressure sores, restraints, weight changes, and other preventative care as outlined in the resident plan of care.
  • Monitors residents for changes in condition, ensures MD, family, and Director of Nursing are notified, and appropriate documentation is reflected in the medical record.
  • Assesses and makes recommendations for significant changes in conditions for MDS TILE and resident plan of care.
  • Maintains the Resident's Roster and Acuity Levels within the department.
  • Reviews and follows up on all consultant reports in a timely manner.
  • Completes evaluations of all licensed nurses and assists with CNA evaluations on assigned unit.
  • Notifies Director of Nursing and Director of Healthcare of incident reports concerning abuse.
  • Thoroughly investigates any complaints and concerns and reports to Director of Nursing.
  • Attends all assigned committee meetings, according to Director of Nursing directives.
  • Reviews incident report documentation and ensures follow-up according to facility policy.
  • Makes rounds to verify clinical compliance and quality of care and provides coaching and disciplinary action as indicated within the facilities policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all life enrichment programs/QA monitors are implemented on assigned unit.
  • Performs charge nurse duties, in cases of staffing emergencies, as required to meet the resident's immediate needs.

Requirements:

  • Valid Texas RN license.
  • Demonstrated 1-2 years supervisory and managerial skills.
  • Knowledge of current professional nursing theory and practice.
  • Excellent technical, assessment, and documented skills.
  • Ability to organize workflow, respond to emergencies, and note detail.
  • Ability to perform Essential Duties.
  • Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, persons with disability, and hospice patients.
  • Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements.
  • Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights (LTC) and Employee Responsibilities.
  • Ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, stable disposition in performing work in association with staff and residents.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of performance in an environment of frequent demands and changes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think clearly in situations where they are the highest ranking person at the facility.
  • Articulate, ability to work with a number of different positions and different levels of staff.
