Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Drama courses at various times and locations. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Drama or Theatre, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Drama.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. They will also submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus, and meet with students to discuss their progress.
The successful candidate will be a part-time faculty member, teaching a maximum of five classes per academic year. They will be required to attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as needed.
The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, a commitment to diversity, and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people. They will also have a demonstrated ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and the effective use of technology.
The successful candidate will be responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Drama courses at a variety of times and locations
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
- Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
- Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- MA or MFA degree in Drama or Theatre, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Drama
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to diversity
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and the effective use of technology
