JOB TITLE: ASC Administrator
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : The ASC Administrator oversees the management and leadership of all clinical staff and is accountable to the Senior Vice President of Operations for the coordination of all medical services provided and the associated support functions of the ambulatory surgical center.
REPORTING : Senior Vice President of Operations

Major Functions and Responsibilities:
The primary role of the ASC Administrator is to foster leadership and encourage collaborative efforts among staff.
The ASC Administrator is tasked with the distribution and execution of assigned responsibilities in daily operations. This individual interprets departmental philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Key Areas of Accountability:
• Support to surgeons by ensuring a well-prepared service team.
• Delegation of tasks and responsibilities to professional, technical, and support staff.
• Evaluation of performance for all department personnel.
• Coordination of administrative functions to ensure efficient staff operations.
• Management of materials, supplies, and equipment in collaboration with the Director of Supply.
• Oversight of activities within the operating room suite.
• Designated Risk Manager.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Operations.
Fiscal Management:
• Monitors budget adherence through daily service activity assessments.
• Contributes to the preparation of the service budget.
Standards of Nursing Practice:
• Ensures compliance of staff with nursing care standards.
• Reports nursing compliance to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
• Demonstrates understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan and the skills required to provide age-appropriate care. The administrator must interpret patient data to identify specific needs and deliver appropriate care.
• Cultural practices will be acknowledged and supported, provided they do not harm others or interfere with medical treatment plans.
Policies and Procedures:
• Monitors adherence to policies and procedures among staff.
• Communicates policies and procedures to team members.
• Enforces compliance and reports non-compliance to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
• Provides guidance and disciplinary actions for non-compliance with policies and procedures.
Staffing and Utilization of Services Personnel:
• Assigns personnel based on competency levels and patient needs.
• Ensures fair staff assignments.
• Participates in the selection of personnel in consultation with the Senior Vice President of Operations as necessary.
• Completes and posts personnel schedules.
Staff Development:
• Actively engages in weekly nursing and clinical staff meetings.
• Evaluates the orientation program for new nursing and clinical staff.
• Communicates educational needs of nursing and clinical personnel to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
• Monitors compliance with annual re-certification requirements.
Services Environment:
• Conducts daily monitoring of the service environment to ensure safety and infection control.
• Reviews monthly reports on safety equipment and takes necessary actions.
• Ensures staff awareness and participation in fire and disaster safety protocols.
• Reviews electrical safety and ensures all equipment is inspected biannually.
• Monitors temperature and humidity controls and takes corrective actions as needed.
• Reports environmental issues to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
Performance Improvement Program:
• Reviews monthly performance improvement activities and shares results with staff during regular meetings.
• Communicates with the Senior Vice President of Operations regarding necessary corrective actions for performance improvement.
Education and/or Experience:
• Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current Registered Nurse License.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally, excessive strength may be required to restrain confused or combative patients during and after anesthesia induction.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS : Normal busy office environment with significant telephone work. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
