At Commercial and Residential Management Group (CRMG), we are seeking a seasoned Property Management Accountant to join our esteemed Accounting Team. This pivotal role will oversee the intricate accounting procedures for a selection of affordable properties in Yardi Property Management Software. As a trusted member of our team, you will be responsible for comprehensive bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, GL coding, and financial statements.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work from our Vancouver Office after successful completion of 90 days in the position. Our ideal candidate will possess a degree in accounting or a minimum of three years of accounting experience. Additionally, previous accounting for affordable housing or subsidies experience is highly preferred.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $27.00 - $32.00/hr, commensurate with experience. The Property Management Accountant will be eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You will also have the opportunity to enroll in our 401(k) program with an employer match, eligible first of the month after 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities:
  • Audit and review monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Record adjusting and accrual entries on a monthly basis, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Maintain cash balances and accounts to prevent overdrafts and ensure timely payments.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to clients, along with supporting documentation.
  • Monitor accounts for errors and correct them promptly, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Participate in daily, monthly, and annual audits, providing expertise and support as needed.
  • Process invoices accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining a high level of organizational efficiency.
  • Facilitate final accounting for residents/tenants who move out, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Monitor tenant accounts for overages/shortages and past-due amounts, sending notices as necessary.
  • Process payables, coding them correctly to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Issue checks consistently, adhering to established protocols.
Requirements:
  • A degree in accounting or a minimum of three years of accounting experience.
  • A minimum of six months of Yardi Property Management software experience is preferred.
  • Previous accounting for affordable housing or subsidies experience is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 programs, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and TEAMS.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented, with a high level of attention to detail.
