PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LEAD INSTRUCTOR
  • Oversee inventory management and procure necessary supplies and equipment for the department as required.
  • Engage in Advisory Board Meetings to communicate concerns regarding externships, student progress, outcomes, and community satisfaction to the Faculty Coordinator and Campus Director.
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements to the curriculum during program revision cycles in collaboration with the Corporate Education Department.
  • Assess textbooks and provide recommendations for updates to the Corporate Education Department during textbook revision cycles.
  • Support Career Services by maintaining regular communication with clinical sites and documenting the oversight and evaluation of students during their clinical experiences.
KEY FUNCTIONS
  • Develop and assess daily lesson plans to ensure effective learning.
  • Design instructional strategies tailored to meet specific objectives based on student needs and the established curriculum.
  • Track student attendance and coordinate with the Associate Director regarding absences that extend beyond two consecutive days. Generate weekly attendance reports for the office management team.
  • Analyze student success rates and implement strategies to minimize withdrawals. Conduct meetings with students to motivate them to continue in the program, aiming for an 80% success rate across all classes.
  • Maintain student grades in compliance with established policies and prepare final grades at the conclusion of each semester to update student records and transcripts.
  • Assess student performance in relation to curriculum achievements and activities, making necessary adjustments to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Organize and facilitate guest speaker sessions, community field trips, and visits to laboratories and clinics.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and practical demonstrations for students, instructing them in laboratory procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to students regarding the Phlebotomy program curriculum.
  • Assist with inventory management and the ordering of supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Facilitate and coordinate externship opportunities for Phlebotomy students.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Technician program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or a graduate of a recognized training entity (e.g., hospital-based program) as a Phlebotomy Technician.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Phlebotomist, and/or three (3) years of teaching experience in Phlebotomy.
  • Possession of a current license, certification, or other designation as mandated by local, state, or federal regulations to practice in the Phlebotomy field.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and general computer skills.
