The College of Nursing and Health Professions at Drexel University is excited to announce an opening for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty role within the Department of Creative Arts Therapies.
Role Summary:
The Clinical Assistant Professor will serve as the Director of the Music Therapy and Counseling MA Program, guiding the education of approximately 20 graduate students in this esteemed program. This role involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across various creative arts therapies disciplines, including Dance/Movement Therapy and Art Therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging classroom lectures and experiential learning opportunities.
- Provide academic advisement and mentorship to students.
- Oversee culminating project advisement.
- Manage administrative tasks such as curriculum development, course scheduling, and accreditation processes.
- Facilitate the integration of music therapy and counseling content.
- Lead recruitment and admissions efforts for the MA in Music Therapy and Counseling program.
- Supervise and hire adjunct faculty for music therapy courses.
- Engage in scholarship and represent the program in professional associations.
- Contribute service to the department, college, university, and broader profession.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a PhD or Doctorate in Music Therapy or be on track to complete their PhD by September 2024. A professional music therapy credential (MT-BC) is required, along with a minimum of five years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy or equivalent part-time experience. Candidates should have at least two years of teaching experience in music therapy or related subjects at the graduate level, demonstrating a record of teaching excellence.
Additionally, a history of professional and scholarly contributions in music therapy is essential. The ideal candidate will actively represent the program in music therapy communities at various levels and will have a strong commitment to teamwork within an educational environment focused on diversity and social justice.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who are eligible for counseling licensure.
Physical Requirements:
This position typically involves sitting at a desk or table.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time faculty position classified as exempt. Salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's qualifications, experience, and department budget.
