Project Developer Role at ENGIE North America Inc.

ENGIE North America Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Project Developer to support the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the United States and Canada. As a key member of our development team, you will play a critical role in driving project development activities from feasibility to construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and drive development activities of utility-scale solar, wind, and storage projects from feasibility to the start of construction.
  • Manage all aspects of environmental site assessment, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities in close collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation.
  • Research new industry developments, tax incentives, and technologies.
  • Manage permit application preparation and attend public permitting hearings.
  • Manage agency and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) submittals and interactions on local, state/provincial, and federal levels.
  • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take origination efforts.
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process, including attending community engagement events.
  • Maintain database tracking project progress.
  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) discussions and document preparation.
  • Prepare investment presentation materials for ENGIE investment committees.
  • Review project pro forma financial models to understand how returns are impacted.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration, Finance, Energy, Economics, or other related field of study with project development, permitting/planning, project management, or business development experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years related experience in renewable energy development or other fields of project development with the ability to navigate permitting processes and community involvement.
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize critical path tasks.
  • Highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with public officials and agencies.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including landowners, potential off-takers, government officials, and corporate leaders.
  • Motivated self-starter, results-oriented, detailed professional who will proactively pursue information with the ability to work well with a geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Details:
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy.
  • Must be available to travel up to 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips.
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
