KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical duties include:

  • Ensuring the safety of individuals and property.
  • Transporting inmates securely.
  • Serving legal documents and court orders.
  • Conducting levies and overseeing prisoners.
  • Enforcing court directives, including injunctions.
  • Securing properties and maintaining public order.
  • Preparing detailed reports and managing legal paperwork.
  • Assisting law enforcement during court-related incidents.
  • Performing tasks as mandated by statutes, regulations, or court orders.
  • Participating in civil legal education courses.
  • Being adaptable to various court functions as assigned.

FUNCTIONAL AREAS:

  • Civil Duties: Serve civil documents, execute levies, and manage child custody papers independently while pursuing ongoing education as directed.
  • Transport Duties: Safely transport inmates to and from correctional facilities, ensuring thorough searches for contraband.
  • Warrant Duties: Execute various warrants and be available for after-hours assignments as needed.
  • Court Duties: Maintain security within the courtroom, manage prisoner movements, and support court operations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient understanding of law enforcement methods and security practices.
  • Familiarity with the criminal and civil justice systems, including procedural rules.
  • Awareness of law enforcement objectives at the county level.
  • Competence in handling and maintaining firearms.
  • Ability to manage order and control disruptive behavior in various scenarios.
  • Skill in navigating geographical locations across the county and state.
  • Proficient in record-keeping and report preparation.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including the Pennsylvania Crimes Code.
  • Familiarity with departmental equipment, including vehicles and communication devices.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Any combination of training and experience that meets the above knowledge and skill requirements.
  • ACT 120 OR ACT 2 CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.
