Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned EH&S Specialist to join our team at Randstad USA in the Billerica, MA area. As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, you will oversee all EH&S plans, policies, and procedures, ensuring complete regulatory compliance.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity for someone with 3+ years of experience managing EH&S aspects, programs, and regulations in a laboratory or manufacturing environment. Your responsibilities will include overseeing health plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

You will be responsible for environmental plans, policies, and procedures, as well as ensuring conformance to corporate policies related to EH&S for continuous improvement. Additionally, you will maintain systems for reporting, monitoring, and reducing EH&S risks.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be a great team player, and have a passion for this role. They will also be able to support new and existing laboratory/testing operations by evaluating risks with team members and leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of health plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Environmental plans, policies, and procedures management.
  • Ensure conformance to corporate policies related to EH&S for continuous improvement.
  • Maintenance of systems for reporting, monitoring, and reducing EH&S risks.
  • Support for new and existing laboratory/testing operations by evaluating risks with team members and leaders.
  • Development and oversight of internal site EH&S auditing processes and tracking.
  • Education of leadership on safety, health, and environmental best practices including prevention, risk assessment, and safe experimental design.
  • Responsible for safety incident management processes including Worker's Compensation program and regulatory agency reporting ensuring compliance.
  • Support for internal liaisons during communication between applicable regulatory and government agencies. Files and/or posts reports as required by external legal and convening agencies such as OSHA 300/300A Logs, SARA Tier II, etc.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience managing EH&S aspects, programs, and regulations in a laboratory or manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience.

Preferred:

  • B.S. in health and safety, environmental management, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Professional EH&S certifications are desirable such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • EH&S subject matter knowledge, especially in technical areas to support engineering and laboratory activities.
  • Competence with chemical, industrial hygiene, and electrical safety concepts.
  • Experience with OSHA's Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories standard (29 CFR 1910.1450).
  • Experience managing environmental permits and aspects such as wastewater discharge, air emissions, and hazardous waste disposal.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work with a variety of stakeholders globally.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the highest degree of integrity.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing, and high-growth work environment in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally and sometimes maintain work a flexible schedule.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft platforms and familiar with database platform usage.
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 for emergencies when required.
