Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Lactation Consultant to join our team at University Hospitals. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will provide expert care and support to new mothers and their babies, helping to establish a strong foundation for a healthy and successful breastfeeding experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive lactation support and education to patients and families
  • Assess and address breastfeeding challenges and concerns
  • Develop and implement individualized lactation plans to meet the unique needs of each patient
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other members of the care team to ensure seamless care coordination
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in lactation and maternal health

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure in Ohio or multi-state compact license
  • Completion of lactation educator training program with current certification
  • Ability to apply for and pass the IBCLC exam within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent

Physical Demands:

  • Standing and walking frequently
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 10% of work time may involve travel
