Job Summary

The University of Pennsylvania seeks a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at the School of Veterinary Medicine. As a key member of our Nuclear Medicine Department, you will be responsible for leading the safe and effective use of radioactive materials in our equine patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Nuclear Medicine Department in completing all aspects of Scintigraphy and Positron Emission Tomography scans on equine patients.
  • Operate and maintain the gamma camera and PET scanner, ensuring diagnostic image acquisition, reconstruction, and storage in the PACS server.
  • Conduct daily quality assurance testing and maintain accurate records for inspections and audits.
  • Assist with the development of research projects involving nuclear medicine and train new technical staff and students.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing the use of radioactive materials.
  • Act as a point of contact during emergencies, providing expertise on nuclear safety and response.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Nuclear Medicine and 4-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) certification.
  • Strong understanding of radiation physics, nuclear chemistry, and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in operating specialized nuclear equipment and software for data analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in both team settings and independently.
