Position Overview:
This role entails overseeing a second-shift team responsible for the upkeep and repair of university facilities, requiring specialized expertise in various skilled trades. The supervisor will directly manage a team of at least seven (7) classified personnel. The working hours for this position are from Wednesday to Saturday, 3:00 pm to 1:00 am.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Supervise a team of skilled trade professionals within the shop.
2. Enforce policies and procedures while establishing work schedules and task assignments.
3. Monitor and assess team performance, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
4. Assist in the management of shop operations, setting priorities and preparing cost estimates.
5. Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
6. Review completed work to ensure quality and compliance with standards, making necessary adjustments.
7. Research and assess new materials and equipment, making informed purchasing recommendations.
8. Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring timely reordering as needed.
9. Occasionally assist with maintenance and repair tasks as required.

Qualifications:


1. A minimum of 18 months of training beyond high school in a skilled trade, along with four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Skills:
1. Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
2. Knowledge of commercial trades.
3. Proven experience in managing and supervising teams across multiple trades.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Proficient understanding of procedures and equipment related to skilled trades.
2. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
3. Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
4. Capability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical diagrams.

Working Conditions:
This position requires considerable physical activity, including walking and standing for extended periods, with occasional lifting of materials weighing between 25 to 50 pounds. The role may involve dealing with moderately challenging situations.
