We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Principal Scientist to join our team at Alcon. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for leading the development of new contact lens materials and processes, as well as packaging salines and contact lens care products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the development of contact lens and contact lens care products
  • Propose new concepts and ideas to drive innovation and growth
  • Represent the formulations team in core team membership and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of structure-property-process relationships in polymers
  • Identify and execute testing methodologies to evaluate new contact lenses, lens surfaces, and package salines
  • Develop an external network of research partners and collaborators to complement internal competencies
  • Stay up-to-date with patent and scientific literature to identify significant technical developments
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of directly related experience
  • Ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • 7 years of relevant experience in the ophthalmic or medical device industry
  • Preferred qualifications: PhD with 12+ years of experience, background in polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, or chemical engineering
