Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive follow-up and intervention strategies for patients facing challenges such as ostomies, draining wounds, fistulae, and skin breakdown due to various medical conditions.
  • Offer direct patient education and counseling for individuals preparing for surgeries that may result in stoma creation, including tailored guidance for those managing abdominal stomas.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate products for ostomy, continence, and wound care, ensuring patients have access to the best resources for their needs.
  • Conduct assessments of individual patient requirements and goals, providing educational programs for healthcare professionals on effective management and self-care techniques related to ostomy and wound care.

Qualifications:


Experience:

· At least one (1) year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse, specifically in caring for patients with ostomies, draining wounds, and pressure ulcers.


Education:

· Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

· Completion of an accredited Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (WOCN) program.


Licenses and Certifications:

· Valid Registered Nurse License.

· Certification in Wound Care Nursing from the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board.

· Basic Life Support certification.

· Certification in Ostomy Care Nursing from the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board.


Additional Skills:

· Strong understanding of pediatric and adult patient education principles.

· In-depth knowledge of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems, including their pathophysiology.

· Excellent communication skills and fine motor dexterity.

· Certification as a Certified Continence Nurse (CCCN) is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

· Current Board Certification in Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (CWOCN).
