Job Title: Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs to join our team at the University of Connecticut School of Nursing. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership to advance the mission of the School of Nursing and direct, support, and develop SON faculty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Dean, Associate Deans, and Senior Associate Dean for Research & Scholarship to advance the strategic plan of the School of Nursing.
  • Implement a shared vision of leadership at the SON.
  • Coordinate the SON process for policy/procedure approval.
  • Provide annual review of all faculty in consultation with the Dean and Associate Deans.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the SON.
  • Maintain current knowledge of University organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure faculty development and career advancement.
  • Develop and lead a faculty mentorship program.
  • Foster collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching and research scholarship.
  • Ensure the successful recruitment, retention, and development of faculty excellence.
Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., EdD, or equivalent) in Nursing.
  • Current Connecticut RN license.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and interact productively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated area of scholarship.
  • Extremely high level of motivation, independence, leadership, and responsibility.
  • Excellent academic record and demonstrated scholarly ability.
  • Demonstrated writing and research ability.
  • Excellent teaching evaluations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated excellence as a progressive/participative leader.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to federal and state laws regarding employees and students.
  • Experience managing employees in a unionized setting.
Appointment Terms:

This is a full-time, twelve-month management-exempt appointment. The successful candidate will be considered for a 9-month, tenured, academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor commensurate with training and experience in the School of Nursing.
