As an Oncology Nurse Specialist at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in our oncology setting. Your expertise will encompass a range of therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy. You will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and other activities related to direct patient care.
- Arrange for patient appointments for diagnostic testing, consults, referrals, and admission to the hospital.
- Monitor and maintain stock of medical supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- Document patients' vital statistics and other encounter data into patient charts and ensure that all required records are in the chart.
- Call in prescriptions for patients according to physician orders.
- Prepare exam rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Receive and return clinically related telephone calls, screening and forwarding those requiring physician action.
- Complete medical/physical history forms and other related information for insurance companies.
- Inform physicians of changes in schedule.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate's Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
- One year of experience as a registered nurse.
- Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina.
