Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Oncology Multidisciplinary Center, you will provide therapies in the oncology setting, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy, blood product transfusions, radiation therapy, and bone marrow transplant. You will demonstrate clinical competency utilizing evidence-based practices and research in all areas of the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists physicians with examinations, procedures, and other activities related to direct patient care.
  • Arranges for patient appointments for diagnostic testing, consults, referrals, and admission to the hospital.
  • Monitors and maintains stock of medical supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Documents patients' vital statistics and other encounter data into patient charts and ensures that all required records are in the chart.
  • Obtains brief medical history and chief complaint from patients.
  • Calls in prescriptions for patients according to physician orders.
  • Prepares exam rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Receives and returns clinically related telephone calls, screening and forwarding those requiring physician action.
  • Completes medical/physical history forms and other related information for insurance companies.
  • Informs physicians of changes in schedule.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred.
  • One year experience as a registered nurse.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina.
Additional Information

This position may require additional training and certifications, such as ACLS, PALS, chemotherapy/biotherapy, and transplant/cellular therapy curriculum. You will demonstrate knowledge of regulatory agency requirements, including JCAHO and DHEC. You will provide care within the scope of the SC Nursing Practice Act.

This setting may require staff to be scheduled for shift, weekend, holiday, and on-call work. This position is bonus eligible.
