Art Education Specialist

Position Overview:
The role of the Art Education Specialist involves delivering engaging arts lessons to students in grades Kindergarten through 5th. This position entails approximately three teaching days each month, complemented by around six hours dedicated to preparation and meetings. This is an independent contractor role.
Support Structure:
During the arts instruction, a certified substitute teacher will be present in the classroom to assist with instructional materials and manage student behavior. To be eligible for this position, the contractor must complete the necessary clearance process as outlined by the organization. All required fingerprinting and medical evaluations will be covered.
Lesson Structure:
Each teaching day will consist of two lessons, each lasting about 2.5 hours. Lessons can encompass various art forms and should provide a diverse range of activities, including hands-on experiences, movement, discussions, and writing, tailored to be age-appropriate.
Collaboration:
Contractors are expected to participate in a monthly group Zoom meeting to collaboratively plan lesson content, facilitated by the Director of Special Programs.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess professional education and/or experience in an artistic discipline. Experience in curriculum development and working with elementary-aged groups is preferred.
Contract Details:
This independent contract role requires a commitment of 2 to 4 days per month over an approximate eight-month period. Compensation will be structured based on the number of teaching days and preparation hours, with additional provisions for approved instructional supplies.
Working Hours:
The standard working hours for this position are from 8 AM to 3 PM.
Selection Process:
- Initial screening of application materials, including cover letter, resume, and at least two letters of recommendation.
- Virtual screening interview.
- Finalists will have a meeting with the Principal and Director of Special Programs for final evaluation.
