Job Summary

Arkansas Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team. As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a vital role in reducing the stress and anxiety associated with hospitalization and other healthcare encounters for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather information and document the psychosocial needs of patients and families through patient/family meetings, nursing reports, and consultations with medical staff.
  • Ensure patients and families receive appropriate clinical services, medical plans, prepare families for medical events, assist with hospitalization and diagnosis, emotional support, and discharge planning.
  • Provide patients and families with developmental services, including group activities and interventions.
  • Maintain a safe and engaging activity room with appropriate materials and supplies.
  • Supervise, orient, and train volunteers and interns to provide quality interactions with patients.
  • Provide positive, supportive, and cooperative attitude with customers and report suggestions for positive change.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Education, or a related field.
  • 600-hour internship (candidate must have completed required coursework as determined by the ACLP).
  • Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) - Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) certification is recommended.
