Job Summary:
The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Nurse II to join our team in the Surgical ICU. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement care plans, and serving as a role model and mentor to students and new nurses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans for assigned patients
- Provide professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of patients, families, and significant others
- Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of care plans, and readiness for discharge, revising plans or making referrals as necessary
- Act as a role model and mentor to students and new nurses
- Function as a Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager
Requirements:
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Minimum of two years demonstrated telemetry nursing experience
- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Licenses and Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
- Basic Life Support (Required)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Preferred)
- Registered Nurse (Required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science, Nursing
- Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
- Demonstrated experience clinically managing pediatric patients
