Job Title: Pediatric Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Medical Assistant to join our team at After Hours Pediatrics. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our pediatric patients and their families.

Job Summary:

The Pediatric Medical Assistant will assist our medical providers in providing quality patient care, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for our patients. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering excellent patient care, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to our organization's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist medical providers in providing quality patient care, including vital signs, weight, chief complaint, and patient history.
  • Direct patients to examination rooms in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Obtain and document patient information, including medical history and other forms.
  • Assist with procedures and maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
  • Document all assessments, actions, care, and treatment responses in the patient record.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Take call as assigned, including covering sick calls and making yourself available to other sites for questions, concerns, and complaints.
  • Comply with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer service, infection control, and safety guidelines and other policies as set forth.
Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree preferred, High School diploma from an accredited institution required.
  • Vocational training as a medical assistant preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or EMP preferred.
  • Emergency room/urgent care/ICU experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a pediatric medical office setting preferred.
  • Current PALS certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to identify critical illness and act accordingly.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • High degree of verbal communication and interpersonal skills to provide emotional support.
  • Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work.
  • Ability to work independently yet in conjunction with a team.

  • Bilingual skills a plus.
Physical/Environmental Demands:

This role requires working in a well-lighted, modern medical setting with potential exposure to illness/disease, hazardous chemicals/materials, and occasional travel locally. Occasional lifting/carrying (20 pounds or less), moderate to high stress level, prolonged sitting/standing/bending, and moderate computer/PC work/telephone use are also required.
