Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough analysis and validation of monthly Gross Profit reports and General Ledger entries, including cost components such as Direct Labor, Materials, Burden, and Scrap.
- Analyze trends in overtime expenditures and Direct Labor staffing levels.
- Assist in the formulation of the Annual Operating Plan for the business unit.
- Prepare financial statements and statistical reports, offering insights and recommendations based on the analyses.
- Timely and accurately reconcile and update weekly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) information in accordance with corporate objectives.
- Generate and reconcile monthly reports related to various general accounting functions, including sales, bookings, backlog, and fixed assets.
- Prepare necessary documentation and journal entries, ensuring daily and monthly cash reconciliations with banking institutions.
- Manage customer collections in line with payment terms and company goals.
- Execute daily accounting tasks related to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable as needed.
- Organize and maintain filing and reference systems pertinent to general accounting activities.
- Ensure effective controls on inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), maintaining compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
- Facilitate requests for ACH transfers and support payroll functions.
- Monitor and report on departmental budget expenditures monthly.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and monthly inventory reporting.
- Oversee milestone project completions, generating invoices and recording journal entries.
- Participate in the month-end closing process for cash, Accounts Receivable, inventory, sales, and bookings.
- Calculate and input all necessary journal entries.
- Coordinate shipping and Free on Board (FOB) cutoffs to support revenue recognition.
- Act as the facilitator for Capital Acquisition Requests, measuring results and actual Return on Investment (ROI).
- Maintain and monitor fixed asset acquisitions and capital expenditure data for compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments and locations on accounting matters and process development.
- Conduct internal audits of Sarbanes-Oxley policies and procedures as outlined in the SOX ICE database.
- Plan and oversee the annual physical inventory count.
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits of general accounting activities as required.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
- Familiarity with manufacturing terminology relevant to accounting activities.
- Strong verbal and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively communicate accounting practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Proven leadership abilities, including people management, meeting facilitation, and customer support.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating a customer-oriented approach and positive attitude.
- Intermediate proficiency in computer applications such as email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access; advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical capabilities, including effective problem-solving and customer complaint resolution.
- Ability to multitask efficiently and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Capacity to work independently, prioritizing responsibilities effectively.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency in processing large data volumes.
- Experience with database systems such as SQL Server is advantageous.
- Understanding of ERP and MRP systems and concepts.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- MBA or Master's degree with a financial focus, or experience with Tier I and II CPA firms is preferred.
- 5-8 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in Aerospace or Defense.
Certifications
- CPA certification is preferred.
