POSITION OVERVIEW: The Purchasing Specialist is integral to our food production facility, managing the complete procurement cycle. This position entails careful sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring the prompt delivery of all essential raw materials and supplies required for our manufacturing processes. The specialist will effectively balance cost management with our unwavering commitment to quality, guaranteeing uninterrupted production flow.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are essential duties associated with this role, with the possibility of additional tasks as needed:
  • Assist the Director of Service and Sourcing and the Purchasing Manager in managing all raw materials and supplies.
  • Identify and acquire raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and supplies necessary for production.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure cost efficiencies and favorable payment arrangements.
  • Assess supplier performance against quality metrics, delivery schedules, and contract compliance.
  • Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and scheduling teams to anticipate demand and ensure timely material availability.
  • Oversee inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock situations.
  • Maintain precise records of purchases, pricing, and inventory status.
  • Stay updated on market trends, new materials, and alternative supplier options.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Address supplier-related issues and disputes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Undertake additional projects or tasks to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement process.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Purchasing Specialist, Procurement Officer, or in a similar capacity within the food manufacturing sector.
  • Strong negotiation capabilities with a proven history of achieving cost reductions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement software.
  • Familiarity with sourcing techniques and vendor management practices.
