About This Opportunity

As a Community Services Coordinator - Mental Health Specialist with the City of Somerville, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being of community members. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the provision of services that promote mental, social, and physical health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service Provision: Develop and implement programs aimed at improving mental health outcomes for residents. Collaborate with community organizations to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Information and Referral: Provide accurate and timely information on various topics, including shelter, food, employment, and health services access. Establish strong partnerships with local service providers.
  • Professional Development: Attend workshops and conferences to stay updated on current programs and best practices. Promote City of Somerville initiatives and services through inter-agency meetings.
  • Program Development and Support Groups: Create engaging programming and lead support group meetings as assigned. Assist constituents with application forms for assistance.
  • Advocacy and Supervision: Serve as an advocate for constituents, ensuring their voices are heard. Supervise student interns and provide guidance on service delivery.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess a Master's Degree and five (5) years' experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license, CPR/First Aid Certification, and Massachusetts Social Worker License are also required.

You must be able to interact effectively with residents, staff, and caregivers, adapting to changing situations with ease. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Proficiency in working with individuals with mental and/or physical challenges is necessary.

Work Environment

The work environment involves everyday office settings with occasional exposure to outside elements. You may be required to work beyond normal business hours to attend evening meetings or complete assignments.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $66,244.85 annually, plus benefits. Our comprehensive package includes 4 weeks of annual vacation, medical insurance, dental coverage, vision care, long-term disability, and life insurance, among others. We also offer tuition reimbursement, MBTA pass program, and FREE Blue Bikes membership.
