Job Overview
The Senior Logistics Analyst plays a crucial role in developing logistics strategies that enhance operational efficiency and resource utilization across the network. Collaborating closely with Operations and IT departments, the analyst will interpret and implement business regulations while identifying opportunities for cost reduction initiatives. Additional data analysis will be conducted as required by the logistics team, necessitating effective database management.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage payments to third-party logistics providers, including requisition processing and coordinating purchase orders to invoice reconciliation.
• Analyze and compile logistics freight expenditures for the North American operations, ensuring accurate monthly financial reporting.
• Review and authorize freight invoices that have been flagged by the third-party freight payment service.
• Evaluate contract carrier freight rates to uncover potential cost-saving measures and maintain contract rates within the transportation management system.
• Collaborate with third-party logistics providers to generate essential weekly and quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Identify and spearhead projects aimed at reducing expenses, enhancing efficiency, and building resilient supply chains. Monitor cost savings and team progress.
• Lead initiatives with carriers, third-party logistics providers, and non-vessel operating common carriers to improve communication, streamline processes, and lower costs.
• Develop and implement Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and spot rate quotations for designated transportation modes.
• Provide support for MIT Planners/Schedulers and Logistics Analysts as necessary to ensure seamless planning, shipping, and invoicing operations.
• Regularly engage with procurement, supply chain, and warehousing teams to promote continuous improvement and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned transportation modes, acting as an internal consultant for Logistics Analysts and other stakeholders.
• Supervise a small team (if applicable) of 1-3 employees.
Qualifications
• Education & Experience: A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field.
• Experience: 5-7 years of experience in logistics or transportation is essential. Additional experience in sourcing, operations, or supply chain management is highly desirable.
• Travel: Up to 25% travel may be required.
• Strong foundational knowledge of transportation modes, supply chain, and logistics principles.
• Proficient negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong analytical capabilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively utilize necessary tools.
• Ability to adhere to established processes and standard operating procedures.
• Experience with SAP Transportation Management is strongly preferred.
