Key Responsibilities:
- Assist experienced iron workers in setting up hoisting equipment and positioning structural steel components.
- Utilize basic rigging techniques to secure steel members for lifting.
- Communicate effectively with equipment operators to ensure safe lifting and placement of materials.
- Guide steel members into their designated positions using tag lines.
- Manipulate steel members into approximate positions while they are supported by hoisting devices.
- Utilize tools such as turnbuckles, crowbars, and jacks to achieve final positioning of steel members.
- Align bolt holes in steel components using drift pins or spud wrenches.
- Ensure proper vertical and horizontal alignment of steel members using plumb bobs and levels.
- Perform cutting and welding of steel components as needed using oxyacetylene equipment.
- Handle the loading, transportation, and unloading of materials and tools.
- Assist in securing materials during installation processes.
- Conduct minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and project regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to work with precision and adhere to accuracy standards.
- Competence in applying basic mathematics to resolve issues.
- Capability to plan tasks and select appropriate tools.
- Skill in comparing and identifying differences in sizes and shapes.
- Aptitude for visualizing solid objects from diagrams.
- Ability to evaluate information against measurable standards.
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements for this position include regular communication and the frequent use of hands for handling tools and materials. Candidates should be prepared for occasional standing, walking, climbing, and the ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
