Job Summary

Advantage Technical is seeking a highly skilled Automation Technician to join our team. As an Automation Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting automation engineering services activities, including hardware and software design and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying automation/robotic system components. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components and return to serviceability.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance actions on all subsystems and related components. Ensure preventative maintenance of robotic and process support equipment are completed on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • PLC and System Understanding: Understand and work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams, including complex automated system drawings.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with the automation team in the qualification process of automated systems. Record procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or method. Maintain software, documentation, and equipment to the latest revision or operational specifications.
  • Training and Development: Assist engineers in developing and designing hardware and software required for all automation solutions per specifications. Train other technicians and operators on products, processes, and equipment.
  • Specialized Responsibilities: Assist with customer presentations and interfaces with customers. Assist engineers with outside third-party automation developments. Organize documentation (specifications, schematics, and procedures).
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Typically requires an Associate's degree, military training, equivalent vocational training, or equivalent experience. Typically requires 2 years of related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrates advanced technical skills which may be used to conduct on-the-job training and/or lead/guide other employees. Highly skilled with ability to move between projects. Demonstrates broad knowledge of functional techniques and has input to process improvement. Applies new technologies and technological changes.
  • Leadership and Communication: Contributes to and improves techniques/concepts. Assists in developing goals/targets of line or department. Requires little to no instruction. Requires little to no supervision.
