Position Overview: Facilities Custodial Operations Manager

Employment Type: Full-time, Academic Staff, Exempt

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Chief Facilities Officer.

Compensation: $52,000 - $72,000

The Facilities Custodial Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all custodial teams operating within state facilities around the clock. Key responsibilities include comprehensive planning, development, and management of various programs related to custodial staff activities. These programs encompass a wide range of areas, including safety training, budget management, product evaluation, equipment testing, and preventive maintenance of custodial tools. Additionally, this role involves coordinating campus setups for events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess resource requirements for work units, manage workflow, schedule logistics, and secure necessary resources for project completion.
  • Facilitate the training and implementation of new supplies and equipment to ensure optimal usage.
  • Exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, promoting, and managing performance for a minimum of 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
  • Develop and implement operational work plans for staff across multiple projects or work units.
  • Establish and enforce facility emergency and hazardous response policies to comply with safety regulations.

The Facilities Management Department plays a crucial role in maintaining the university's infrastructure, ensuring clean and efficient operations of utilities, and preserving the campus's aesthetic appeal. The work environment for this position is primarily indoors, with potential exposure to dust, odors, mechanical parts, and noise.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma preferred.
  • Experience in custodial services within an educational setting, event management, and familiarity with student living environments is highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System offers a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
