The University of Maryland Global Campus seeks a seasoned leader to serve as **Assistant Vice President for Institutional Equity** in our Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
**Key Responsibilities**- Oversee institutional compliance with federal and state civil rights laws and regulations, including Title IX, Title VII, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Conduct investigations into complaints of discrimination and harassment, working with overseas Equal Opportunity Officers to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent outcomes.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote equity and inclusion, including training programs for faculty, staff, and students.
- Manage a team of equity compliance staff, including the Title IX Coordinator/ADA Compliance Officer, Fair Practices/Equal Opportunity Officer, Employee Accommodations Manager, and Senior DEI Manager and Investigator.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs to develop proactive strategies for preventing discrimination and harassment.
- Design and implement an internal audit and reporting system to measure the effectiveness of the university's Affirmative Action Program.
- Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Management, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- At least five years of relevant experience, including five years of supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire a team and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Certification as a DEI professional is required.
- Juris Doctorate or other earned doctorate in a relevant field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Successful experience working in a decentralized higher education environment.
- Knowledge of DEI and organizational change models, and experience with current research and data to inform DEI practices.
