Job Overview

The Material Handler Specialist will be responsible for efficiently moving materials throughout the plant to shipping, receiving, bindery, and the pressroom baler. This role requires excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplies machines with proper material as specified by the Stitcher Operator.
  • Ensure all forms have a backup load ready to run (flipped, unbanded).
  • Communicate with the Stitcher Operator on job progress (quantity to run, VIPS, Stores, version change.)
  • Supply machines with proper pallets, binders, wire, shrink film, empty waste bin and remove all packaging (shrink wrap, strapping).
  • Ensure cardboard, plastic, garbage and unnecessary pallets are taken away from the machine.
  • When a load is to be run, cut the plastic off and give the Stitcher Operator a form and the load tag.
  • The Material Handler Specialist is responsible for the stacking of material onto a new pallet of signatures or forms may be done if the trucker considers the load safe and not above the pocket feeders shoulders.
  • Sorting pallets and remove from area to proper location as per attached instructions (four-ways, good, Junk.)
  • Verify load flag and placard that they match with completed load and placement is correct.
  • Take completed loads from machines to wrappers and complete the necessary functions to wrap loads.
  • Transport completed loads to either the Shipping Department or the bindery wrapper depending on which area you are supporting.
  • Ensure your assigned work area is swept up at the end of your shift and at any time a production is completed.
  • Ensure to clean your truck off at the end of your shift.
Requirements
  • 2 Years prior experience in a warehouse using a forklift required.
  • Ability to operate a lift and hand truck required, as well as obtain forklift license within thirty days.
  • Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Requires the ability to communicate fluently in English to provide effective and clear written and oral communication.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions without error.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and overtime if or when necessary.
  • Valid driver's license.
