Nuclear Medicine Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radioactive materials.
Key Responsibilities- Competently perform basic to intermediate nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including general and cardiac scans.
- Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information and compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and procedural adjunctive medication according to approved exam parameters.
- Perform venipuncture and placement of peripheral IV catheters for medication administration.
- Access other vascular access devices as determined by department training and need.
- Follow correct procedures for handling radioactive materials and implement ALARA measures.
- Accurately record pharmaceutical doses and maintain accurate records of patient and study information.
- Relay pertinent patient history information to appropriate staff and departments.
- Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images.
- Maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and document billing codes of procedures performed.
- Identify equipment performance issues and perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.
- Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Nuclear Medicine Tech (N) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 1 year.
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification (CNMT) issued by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nuclear Medicine.
