Job Overview
Tasked with accurately documenting class notes for students registered at El Paso Community College (EPCC).
Key Responsibilities
The note specialist is expected to maintain confidentiality regarding all assignment-related information. Discretion is crucial when discussing any class or student matters. Should any issues arise among the involved parties, the immediate supervisor must be notified.
Notes must be transcribed as accurately and thoroughly as possible, without providing personal opinions or advice to the student. Important information should not be omitted, and personal viewpoints must not be included in the recorded notes. Participation in class is limited to asking questions for clarification.
The note specialist will be assigned based on relevant experience or expertise in specific subject areas. Familiarity with a subject enhances the quality of note-taking. If the specialist feels unqualified for a particular assignment, they should inform their immediate supervisor.
Professional conduct is essential, including appropriate attire, behavior during assignments, and wearing a name badge to identify oneself in the classroom.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Capability to interact with individuals at all levels of the institution and the general public.
Special Conditions:
- The El Paso Community College is establishing a pool of applicants for part-time staff roles. This pool will be utilized when openings arise. Applications will remain active for approximately one year. After this period, re-application will be necessary to remain in the pool.
- This position is security-sensitive as defined under applicable laws; the successful candidate will undergo a criminal background check as required by the College's policies.
