Edinburg Independent School District seeks a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our team of healthcare professionals.

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced nurse who can provide exceptional health services to students, promote health education, and support the overall well-being of our school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide temporary and emergency care for sick and injured students or staff according to district policy and procedures.
  • Serve as a health advocate for students, notifying parents of accidents or illnesses and securing medical care as needed.
  • Coordinate management systems to administer medications to students at school, following district policies and procedures.
  • Perform screening procedures required by Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Education Agency, and district policy.
  • Make referrals as necessary and develop individual health plans and emergency care plans for students with unique health needs.
  • Develop and coordinate continuing evaluation of the campus health program, making adjustments based on findings.

Instructional Support:

  • Participate in campus health and wellness education, providing health education to individuals and groups.
  • Offer health counseling and instruction to individual students, serving as a resource to staff and assisting them in accessing community resources for health.

Consultation and Collaboration:

  • Serve as a health liaison between the school, physicians, parents, and community, assessing student problems and making appropriate referrals.
  • Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee, crisis team, and school committees, assessing and reporting suspected child abuse.
  • Communicate regularly with the principal and Director of Health Services regarding health service issues.

Administration and Supervision:

  • Review and evaluate immunization records, enforcing procedures to ensure proper program administration according to district policy.
  • Supervise and train School Nurse Assistants, LVNs, and Nurse Aides in clinic procedures and responsibilities, according to district policy.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including clinic records and accurate updated health records on all students.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed to maintain clinic inventory, complying with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of State Health Services, State Board of Education, board policy in health services area, and the Texas Board of Nursing.

Benefits and Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • A current registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nursing.
  • Certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services to conduct vision and hearing screening.
  • CPR/AED Certification.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures, and knowledge of community medical, healthcare services, and referral resources.

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this position is $57,250 - $80,668 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
