About the Role

Enclara Pharmacia, a Humana company, is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to join our team. As a Pharmacy Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting our hospice and palliative care pharmacy services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and growing company.

Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in labeling and dispensing medications
  • Weigh, prepare, and generate batches for compounded medications
  • Keep the compounding room organized and clean
  • Help pharmacists with duties to keep the compounding room compliant
  • Organize assigned workload to facilitate its accomplishment
  • Prepare MTM blister packs and do medicine reconciliation with patients
  • Complete batch records and other pharmacy records as indicated
  • Verify completed batch records against the computer record
  • Generate labels and pick and package prepackaged and unit dose drugs in accordance with the dispensing order (pick-list) and under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Participate with the pharmacist in monitoring/maintain drug inventories and preparing orders for drugs and related supplies
  • Answer the telephone and take messages as indicated
  • Attend designated departmental meetings as scheduled
  • Perform other tasks or duties as requested
Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school (1st through 4th year)
  • Knowledge of basic drug terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, drug use, and aseptic technique
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to compound medications in a nonsterile environment with proper safety precautions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Possesses good organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in data entry and use of a computer
  • Possess the ability and initiative to plan for and complete daily activities with minimal direction
  • Dependable in attendance and job performance
