Position Title: Lead Electrical Engineer

Role Summary:

The Lead Electrical Engineer position is fundamentally rooted in advanced engineering principles and calculations. This role involves collaboration with our Operations, Estimating, Construction, and Business Development teams to architect a superior and efficient solar photovoltaic (PV) system, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and PV charging stations. A strong sense of urgency, analytical thinking, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout of solar energy systems; interconnection design and equipment selection; energy production assessment; engineering support during construction; evaluation of future technologies; and development of proprietary internal products and services.
  • Develop initial PV system layouts using Helioscope and AutoCAD for proposals and to be shared with external electrical engineering firms for comprehensive construction drawings.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for PV systems based on current electrical loads and energy consumption patterns.
  • Ensure PV system designs comply with relevant National Electrical Code (NEC), utility, and program specifications.
  • Produce energy generation analyses.
  • Create single-line and three-line diagrams based on site evaluations, photographs, and existing system configurations.
  • Formulate production performance guarantees for contractual agreements.
  • Perform electrical load calculations and specify electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate with civil and structural engineering firms to secure detailed civil and structural design packages from third-party vendors that fulfill all contractual and permitting obligations.
  • Conduct site assessments for PV installations.
  • Review technical plans and specifications.
  • Prepare technical descriptions for Request for Proposal (RFP) submissions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to production, feasibility, cost-benefit analysis, design discrepancies, and more.
  • Provide support for the estimating process.
  • Participate in site visits for RFPs.
  • Troubleshoot design and construction challenges in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
  • Engage with project managers and sales teams on presentations and technical matters.
  • Assist estimating teams in reviewing RFPs and in the development of high-quality proposals.
  • Conduct site visits for troubleshooting existing installations as required.
  • Research and remain informed about emerging PV and renewable energy design technologies.
  • Regularly interact with major system component suppliers.
  • Perform any additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of experience in utility-scale solar PV design, design/build, or EPC sectors.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and PVSYST is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus.
  • NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional certification is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Skilled in identifying objectives and priorities.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Team player with a focus on achieving results.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels.
