The Tween Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of services to middle school students during program hours. This position is integral to the SONYC Tween Program, which operates with extended hours and a comprehensive daily schedule designed to meet the needs of our youth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all facets of the Tween programming, including participant recruitment, registration processes, curriculum design, and parent involvement.
- Support the Teen Program Director and Operations team with daily administrative tasks and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Foster collaborative partnerships with local community organizations and educational institutions that refer youth to our services.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for participants, including both walking and driving pick-ups from local schools.
- Engage with youth to build meaningful relationships while providing appropriate behavior management and supervision during program activities.
- Supervise group assistants and volunteers/interns participating in the program.
- Design and implement weekly lesson plans for specialized activities such as culinary arts, creative writing, photography, and more.
- Ensure oversight and management of general activity areas, including recreation, snack times, and meal services.
- Collaborate with the broader Teen Center team to organize youth-centered trips and events.
- Assist the middle school group during the Summer Day Camp program.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, orientations, and training sessions as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Physical Requirements:
- This role involves regular standing, walking, sitting, and handling various materials. Occasionally, quick movements may be necessary. Frequent use of hands for tasks such as gripping, reaching, and lifting is required. The ability to lift and/or move weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds may be necessary. Specific vision capabilities include close and distance vision, along with the ability to adjust focus as needed.
