Job Summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Mission Critical team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating electrical distribution and control systems for mission-critical, healthcare, and industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs electrical systems/equipment to provide a safe and reliable environment for mission-critical markets
• Advises clients on electrical systems/requirements to meet their needs and comply with applicable codes
• Monitors installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design documents
• Conducts fault studies and load flow analysis, develops design criteria for protective device coordination, relay applications, medium voltage transformers, switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution
• Develops and/or leads the design of electrical master plans for facilities, including reliable power distribution, motor control centers, energy-efficient lighting systems, communications and telecom routing, instrumentation and controls for HVAC systems, fire-alarm interface, building-level uninterrupted power systems (UPS) systems, engine generators
• Reviews electrical designs and specifications of equipment or systems being purchased or fabricated
• Provides electrical design direction and resource management on multi-discipline projects
• Develops concept studies, designs, and narratives
• Participates in the identification, recruiting, and management of resources to meet the needs of the business

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of electrical engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures, strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards, strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience with leading the discipline design for large projects, delegating work tasks to team members, and resolving issues in a team environment
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications, ability to travel
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
