Join SpaceX as a Sr. IC Layout Engineer

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space technology and exploring new frontiers. As a Sr. IC Layout Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the cutting-edge ICs that power our spacecraft and satellites.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with IC designers and chip leads to determine chip floor plans, including power and ground distribution, and pad locations.
  • Estimate layout schedules and identify areas of complexity that require early investigation.
  • Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks, focusing on matching and minimizing parasitic capacitance.
  • Conduct design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout versus schematic checks, resolving errors as needed.
  • Integrate top-level layout with electrostatic discharge structures and pad assembly, and perform final tape out, including density fill and design for manufacturability checks.
  • Work with EDA suppliers to trial new tools and features.
  • Develop guides and demos for team members to showcase improvements in layout technique.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer or 8+ years of experience with integrated circuit layout design.
  • Strong analog layout skills.
  • Experience in advanced node IC layouts, such as 22nm, 16nm, 7nm, or 5nm.
  • Experience in layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz.
  • Experience in layout of sensitive RF blocks, such as low noise amplifiers, voltage controlled oscillators, and mixers.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Python or Perl.
  • Experience managing revision control systems.
  • Understanding of layout considerations for device matching, coupling, and noise isolation.
  • Working knowledge of Linux.
