Job Title: Sr. IC Layout Engineer

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Sr. IC Layout Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the cutting-edge technology that will take us to the stars.

Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced IC layout designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analog and RF layout design, with a focus on high-frequency and high-speed circuits. You'll work closely with our cross-functional team to design and develop custom ICs for our Starlink satellite constellation and other space-related projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop custom ICs for high-frequency and high-speed applications
  • Collaborate with our systems architecture, ASIC design, and firmware teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Work with our packaging engineer to determine pad locations and ensure optimal layout
  • Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks, with attention to matching and minimizing parasitic capacitance
  • Perform design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout versus schematic checks, and resolve errors
  • Work with EDA suppliers to trial new tools and features
  • Generate guides and demos for others in the team to showcase improvements in layout technique
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering
  • 5+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer, or 8+ years of experience with integrated circuit layout design
  • Strong analog layout skills, with experience in advanced node IC layouts (22nm, 16nm, 7nm, 5nm or below)
  • Experience in layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz, and sensitive RF blocks such as low noise amplifiers, voltage controlled oscillators, and mixers
  • Experience with skill programming, shell scripting, Perl, Python, or similar language
  • Experience managing revision control systems, and working knowledge of Linux
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently on challenging problems
