Precision Machining Specialist for Aerospace Industry

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Precision Machining Specialist to support our manufacturing operations at Southern Manufacturing Technologies. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in machining tools and wear characteristics to contribute to the production of high-precision components and assemblies for the aerospace industry.

About the Role
  • As a Precision Machining Specialist, you will be responsible for evaluating cutting tools after use, ordering replacement tools as needed, sending tools out for repair, reviewing tool lists to prepare tools for production runs, and maintaining inventory of the tool crib to facilitate production needs.
  • You will work closely with our CNC machinists to ensure that all tools are properly signed out and returned in a timely manner, and that tool check-in and check-out procedures are enforced.
  • In this role, you will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the tool crib area, implementing efficient storage practices to optimize space and accessibility, and arranging and labeling tools in a logical manner for easy retrieval.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of machining tools and wear characteristics (strongly preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various teams.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with a team.
  • Familiarity with aerospace machining tools and equipment is a plus.
Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Move items weighing up to and exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Repetitively sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, and feel.
  • Talk and hear.
  • Visual acuity-near and far, depth perception, field of vision, color vision.

Estimated Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this role is $15-$20 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
