Position Overview

The Gunnison County Sheriff's Department is seeking candidates for a full-time Patrol Deputy role, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. This position encompasses a range of routine and complex public safety responsibilities, including sheriff patrol duties, investigations, traffic management, and other law enforcement functions.

Compensation

The annual salary for this position ranges from $70,288 to $99,422, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • Completion of the State Basic Training Academy or equivalent training is required.
  • Minimum age of 21 years at the time of employment.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated good moral character and a strong work ethic.

Special Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old at the time of employment.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license with no history of suspension or revocation.
  • No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors that would disqualify the candidate.
  • Ability to meet the Department's physical fitness standards.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid is required.
  • Basic Law Enforcement Training or equivalent certification is necessary.
  • Must maintain proficiency in the use of firearms and any assigned tactical equipment.
  • Completion of ICS 100 and ICS 700 training within the first year of employment.
  • Willingness to cover shifts or be on call during emergencies.
