About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Orthopedic Nurse to join our team at LCMC Health. As an Orthopedic Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, prioritizing and coordinating all care touchpoints for patients navigating through the program.
  • Maintain a safe environment, adhering to infection control procedures, and participating in quality improvement and regulatory standard protocols during patient visits and reporting safety issues.
  • Participate in clinic flow, assisting with patient arrival, preparing patients for examination, treatment, and/or procedures, recording vital signs, and recognizing and responding to abnormal findings or emergencies.
  • Perform patient procedures as instructed, scheduling new and follow-up patient appointments, and facilitating a smooth patient exit from the clinic.
  • Ensure continuity of care, comfort, efficiency, consistent communication, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
  • Administer prescribed medications and/or vaccinations, maintain and store medication inventory, and properly dispose of expired medications.
  • Gather clinical documentation and obtain medical records when needed or requested by the medical provider.
  • Document clinical tasks, testing, and procedures appropriately in the patient medical record and navigate electronic medical records to obtain records, update patient information, and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Advise and consult with the supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
  • Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
  • Contribute to the team by assisting others without being asked.
Requirements
  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Prior Orthopaedic Clinic RN experience is preferred.
